We’re thrilled to have guest-edited a second Visceral Bodies special issue of Studies in the Maternal journal, issue 15, Affect, Creativity and the Maternal.

The issue is now out and you can read it here!


Through artworks, poetry, creative writing and essays, our new issue of Studies in the Maternal explores the intersections of affect, creativity and the maternal (understood as broadly as possible and encompassing childlessness and loss).

Launch event

We had a wonderful joint launch event for the journal issue and Anna Brook’s prose-poetry book, Motherhood: A Ghost Story, on 30th October 2025 at the Poetry Cafe, London.

We shared powerful readings from Millie Walton, Crystal Maritta Sam, Jennifer Crouch, Lana Locke and Anna Brook.
